Talakad or Talakadu is a desert-like town on the left bank of the Kaveri river at a spot where the river makes a sharp bend. It is 45 km from Mysore and 133 km from Bangalore in Karnataka, India. A historic site, Talakadu once had over 30 temples, most of which lay buried in sand. The extant goup of temples is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus. Here the eastward flowing Kaveri river changes course as the sand on its banks spreads over a wide area.
* 05:15 – 06:15 pm – Shivanasamudra Falls [Bharachukki.]
The Shivanasamudra Falls is on the Kaveri River after the river has wound its way through the rocks and ravines of the Deccan Plateau and drops off to form waterfalls. The island town of Shivanasamudra divides the river into twin waterfalls. This creates the fourth largest island in the rivers course.
